Crash of SanAir Flight 1641
« on: August 31, 2011, 12:44:10 pm »
NOTE: This is a made up story. The pilots, plane and passengers are works of fiction. Any resemblance to any real world crash, people, airlines or even virtual airlines are purely coincidental.

[Captain] Lower flaps 15
[Co-Pilot] Flaps 15
[Captain] I have never had this much turbulence on approach before.
[Co-Pilot] I have never experienced this much turbulence before.
[Captain] Lower flaps 25, see if that will reduce the turbulence
[Co-Pilot] Flaps 25.
[Ground Prox. warning] Too low, gear Too low, gear
[Captain] What?
[ATC] SanAir 1641, please clear runway 18
[Captain] Pull up! Pull up!
[Co-Pilot] Powering up the engines!
[Captain] How the hell did we get on a runway!?
[Co-Pilot] I don't know!
[Stall warning]
[Overspeed warning]
[Captain] What the?!
[Co-Pilot] What does that mean?
[Captain] I don't understand what is happening!
[Co-Pilot] Airspeed is stuck at 10!
[Captain] Altitude is at 50,000!
[Co-Pilot] We have to get the nose up to ten degrees and keep throttle at half power.
[Captain] But how will we get down?
[Ground Prox. warning] Too low, terrain
[Captain] Should we pull up?
[Co-Pilot] I don't think so... not without knowing our airspeed.
[Engine flame-out]
[Captain] Which engine was that?
[Co-Pilot] I can't tell, the middle monitor is dead.
[Captain] Don't risk shutting down a good engine!
[Co-Pilot] Ok
[Captain] Shoot, we forgot to tell ATC!
[Co-Pilot] Mayday mayday mayday Sanair 164...

SanAir 1641 Took off from SFAP on December 23rd, heading to Francis International. Midway through the flight the crew has unexpected severe turbulence. Somehow the crew activated auto land, which made them hover over runway 18  in LVAP. Auto land deactivated when full power to the engine was applied. Their instruments started failing and get some contradictory warnings which confuses the pilots and they forget to warn ATC. There are many dents in the areas near the failed engine.
