Which browser are you using?
I'm using Google Chrome and I dont have that problem.
Try pressing 'enter' instead of clicking 'shout'?

It happens sometimes. I think it's because Shoutbox refreshes every 0 seconds, so whenever you type in the text and hit enter (or click on shout) it appears right a way instead of you having to refresh the whole page. If it's causing you enormous problems, I would be happy to change the timer.
